Many foods and substances create a chemical dependency that makes you crave them especially sugar, caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol. They can have a serious effect on the brain and often trick it into releasing dopamine (sometimes up to 10 times more than normal) when those cravings are met. Over time, however, more and more of those foods and chemical substances have to be used in order to produce the same effect, i.e. stimulating the reward system in the brain, which is what causes addiction.
When the brain expects these substances and does not receive them, the body can experience a myriad of unpleasant symptoms known as withdrawal.
Using essential oils to help cleanse the blood and open the elimination pathways of the body is one of the best ways to kickstart your journey on becoming addiction free.
Often, addiction to certain substances indicates a deficiency in enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, so be sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables during recovery.

Hi Tash!
I am a follower of your essential oils blog and lover of natural fragrances. I want to experiment with essential oils and hope for a blend that will suit my personality. Can your recommend essential oils with strong, masculine and a sense of modern western and Arabian oud formula? A quality perfume mix.

Thanks for your post, it's very informative. I have two quick questions.
(1) What is FCF?
(2) Can you clarify the blend for the smoking addiction? I think we are simply adding one drop of cinnamon bark to the drug addiction blend into one teaspoon of olive oil and putting a drop onto the tongue. Is this correct? In other words, this blend would be 1 drop each of basil linalool, bergamot (FCF), eucalyptus radiata, lavender, sweet orange and cinnamon bark added to one teaspoon of olive oil and then place one drop on the tongue when needed.
Thanks again.

Hi Deb!
FCF stands for furocoumarin-free. That means that the bergaptenes in the bergamot oil have been removed since they cause the skin to become extremely sensitive to direct sunlight. The smoking blend is for internal use, but not the drug addiction blend. That one must be used externally. Best of luck!
