Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Soap

Now that Autumn has officially arrived my thoughts linger on darker,  shorter days, hot cocoa, Halloween and Thanksgiving, color changing leaves, and the familiar scent and flavor of pumpkin spice. Everywhere you look you're sure to find desserts, drinks, soaps, lotions, air fresheners, and candles reverting to their warm autumn scents in preparation for what is in my opinion, the best season of the year.

Since Southern California lacks proper seasons other than spring, summer, and more summer, I have grown to love switching out my natural cleaning and body care products to reflect the current season which allows me to better experience the colder months even when temperatures outside are a comfortable 70 degrees.

One of my favorite scents? Pumpkin Spice!

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Soap

I never used to be a fan of pumpkin spice because it's often too strong and cloying due to the fake chemicals and ingredients used to create it. Everything from coffee, tea, beer, body wash, hand soap, and candles are scented to the max using these unnatural ingredients in order to get the consumers "in the buying mood" for the holidays.

I get it, I used to be the same way because who can resist those huge autumn candles?!

After getting sucked into this consumerism trap and ending up with chronic headaches from pumpkin spice scented candle fumes, I decided that it was time to start making my own versions of fall-inspired products that were natural yet still effective.

One of my favorite little reminders to incorporate into daily life for the current season is by using foaming hand soap. This may not seem like much, but I like it because you can get a vivid snapshot of your favorite scents every time you wash your hands, immediately making you recall fond memories of fall, winter, spring, or summer.

Recently, I've made up a batch of pumpkin spice foaming hand soap that reminds me of pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice lattes without the use of headache-inducing toxic chemicals. It's warming, spicy, and has a lovely sweet undertone reminiscent of Fall.

Here's what you need to make it:

• 1 8.5 oz foaming hand soap dispenser like this one
• ⅓ cup castile soap
• ⅔ cup distilled water
• 6 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 5 drops ginger CO2
• 3 drops clove essential oil
• 3 drops vanilla absolute
• 2 drop nutmeg essential oil
• 1 drop cardamom essential oil
• 1 drop allspice essential oil

Loving Preparation - Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Soap Recipe

1. Begin by adding ⅓ cup liquid castile soap to the empty foaming soap dispenser
2. Next add each essential oil
3. Swirl or stir to mix.
4. Next add ⅔ cup of distilled water
5. Cap closed and swirl to mix thoroughly

To Use

Simply use the pump to dispense a dollop of pumpkin spice scented hand soap and enjoy!

Since the castile soap is diluted, you no longer have to worry about it clogging the dispenser and shooting you in the face with soap, which embarrassingly, is the problem I've always had when using castile soap.

Thankfully, just adding a bit of water seems to thin out the castile soap enough the prevent this from happening and as a result, you have perfect cost-effective foaming hand soap that smells like dream.

And the best part? It's natural, smells amazing, and the essential oils will help keep germs and bacteria off your hands during cold and flu season. What's not to love about that?
