Essential Oil Quick Usage Guide - Anti-Bacterial

Anti-bacterial essential oils are effective against bacteria that are both airborne or on surfaces like your hands and various areas of the home like doorknobs, sinks, toilets, and light switches.

They are effective against the stomach flu and other bacterial infections and should be considered a staple in every home to help ward off illness and support the immune system.

The Best Anti-Bacterial Essential Oils

Below are some of the best anti-bacterial essential oils that are known to help support wellness and keep certain bacteria from proliferating easily.

  • Basil
  • Bergamot
  • Cassia
  • Cedarwood
  • Cinnamon bark
  • Citronella
  • Clary sage
  • Clove
  • Cypress
  • Eucalyptus globulus
  • Fir
  • Geranium
  • Grapefruit
  • Juniper
  • Lavender
  • Lemon
  • Marjoram
  • Mountain savory
  • Neroli
  • Oregano
  • Palmarosa
  • Petitgrain
  • Pine
  • Roman chamomile
  • Rosemary
  • Spearmint
  • Tansy
  • Tarragon
  • Tea tree
  • Thyme
  • Valerian

Cinnamon bark, thyme, and oregano are considered the most powerful so if you have those, you’re in good shape!

Use any of these essential oils in diffusers, room sprays, and household cleaning recipes (learn how to make some of my favorites here).

I often prefer to use a four thieves blend (buy here or learn how to make here) since it contains some of the more powerful oils that kill bacteria.

Anti-Bacterial Essential Oil Recipes

Recommended Blend #1

  • 5 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 5 drops clove essential oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops eucalyptus globulus essential oil

Add the oils to a 4 oz spray bottle and spray down frequently touched surfaces and freshen the air.

Recommended Blend #2

  • 2 drops thyme essential oil
  • 2 drops basil essential oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 5 drops pine essential oil

Add to 1 cup of castile soap and use it to wash dishes. Dilute it with water to create a hand soap.

I used to buy, by the gallon, EO’s peppermint and tea tree hand soap. Used it in kitchen and bathroom. I am chemical and fragrance sensitive & it worked well for me (antibacterial, no bad reactions), however they they discontinued it…

Contemplating buying a gallon of unscented castile or coconut-based liquid soap & adding those 2 essential oils, but I have no idea of the soap to essential oil ratio… Any idea how many drops you would need to add to a 128 fl oz soap jug?
