Plant Therapy Oil of The Month - Tropical Passion essential oil

August’s oil is a super juicy tropical infused blend called Tropical Passion that makes me think of a cruise on the Caribbean, cold cocktail in hand. I can already see myself using this blend in lip balm, lotion, body oil, and more!

In case you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon, Plant Therapy (which is one of my favorite essential oil companies) has a monthly program where you get a mystery essential oil every month.

It’s been a lot of fun getting oils and synergy blends you can’t normally get, so if this is a blend you want, be sure to join their Oil of The Month Club before the month is over.

If you’ve missed out, I’ve heard that you can call them and ask about the availability of previous essential oils they’ve had, so that is always an option as well!

Plant Therapy Oil of The Month – Tropical Passion Essential Oil

Tropical Passion essential oil blend is surprisingly bold and fruity. When I first took a whiff from the bottle, I was sort of taken aback because it made me think of a fruity candy I used to eat as a child. I STILL can’t put my finger on exactly which candy it was, but I was transported back in time to those moments.

The scent itself is addicting. I think I’ve opened the bottle several times just to inhale the uplifting and energizing aroma. I feel like it has put me in a better mood already!

Tropical Passion essential oil contains:

• Anise – spicy, sweet, and licorice-like
• Bitter almond – used primarily for its intense almond scent. Lacks the medicinal qualities other essential oils have
• Buchu – smells like black currants and has antiseptic, anti-rheumatic, carminative, and tonic qualities. Used in very minute amounts.
• Mandarin – bright and juicy citrus scent that uplifts the emotions
• Peru balsam – has a rich balsamic, vanilla-like aroma
• Sweet orange – cheerfully bright and juicy scent
• Tangerine – fresh, bright, and uplifting

According to Plant Therapy, the essential oils used in this blend were chosen to evoke the feelings of a summer party, and I can definitely attest to that statement.

The blend reminds me of fruit punch, juicy summer cocktails, and just the various fruity scents of summer.

This fruity undertone comes from the buchu, tangerine, mandarin, and sweet orange essential oils and its slightly spicy scent comes from the anise and peru balsam. There’s also a slight nuttiness that I’m assuming comes from the bitter almond oil they use in this blend.

It’s pretty delicious smelling!

Safety

This blend should not be used while pregnant, while breastfeeding, if you have endometriosis, or if you have estrogen-sensitive cancers.

Kidsafe?

No

How to Use Tropical Passion Essential Oil Blend

Diffused

Add 5-10 drops to a diffuser and diffuse in your room or office to help awaken the senses and uplift the emotions.

Tropical Passion Room Spray

Add 20 drops to a 4 oz bottle of equal parts witch hazel and spring water.

Shake well before use.

Spray around your surroundings to freshen up a stuffy room or to brighten your home right before guests arrive at your summer party!

Fruity Lip Balm

To make 5 tubes of delicious tropical lip balm, add the following ingredients to a double boiler:

• 5 lip balm tubes
• ½ TB plus ½ tsp of beeswax pellets
• 1 TB sweet almond oil
• ½ TB olive oil
• ½ TB mango butter

Melt the ingredients together, then remove from the heat.

Add 10 drops of Tropical Passion essential oil blend and stir to combine.

Pour the mixture into lip balm tubes and allow to cool completely before use.

Tropical Lotion Bars

For some super decadent tropical lotion bars, you will need:

• ½ cup coconut oil
• ½ cup capuacu butter (can sub mango butter)
• ½ cup beeswax pellets
• ½ tsp tropical passion essential oil blend
• Lotion bar molds
• Tins for storage

Add all the ingredients EXCEPT the essential oils to a double boiler.

Once melted through, remove from the heat and add the essential oil.

Stir to combine, then pour the mixture into your molds.

Allow them to cool completely before use.

The number of bars you get will depend on the molds you use. I get about four 2 oz lotion bars from this recipe.

Tropical Passion Solid Perfume

To make a single solid perfume, you will need:

• One solid perfume tin
• ½ TB jojoba oil
• ½ TB beeswax pellets
• 18 drops tropical passion essential oil blend

In a small heat-resistant dish, melt the jojoba oil and beeswax together using the double boiler method.

Once melted together, remove from the heat and add the essential oil.

Pour into the solid perfume tin and allow it to cool completely before use.

This makes a wonderfully juicy and bright smelling solid perfume that is perfect for summer!
