How to Make Christmas Spirit Essential Oil

Some of my favorite scents are the ones that spark happiness, joy, and contentedness and what better time of year for all three of these things than Christmas? The aromas of freshly baked gingerbread, spiced wine, and noble pine fill our homes and fill our senses with timeless familiarity, calmness, and peace that give us that little extra boost of holiday spirit.

It is the scents of Christmas that often evoke good memories of friends and family, the joy of being together, and even those quiet moments spent alone in stolen silence whilst clutching a hot mug of mulled cider, the chilly air turning your breath to frost.

I have always loved the spicier aromas of winter and one of my favorite essential oil blends has been one called Christmas Spirit. It has a pleasantly warm cinnamon-y overtone with bright flashes of sweet orange and a snapshot of fresh spruce - all the telltale scents of winter and celebration.

If you love this type of blend as much as I do, then you'll love my Christmas Spirit dupe!

How to Make Christmas Spirit Essential Oil

This blend was pretty easy to recreate since it only contains three essential oils - cinnamon bark (not leaf), sweet orange, and black spruce.

All that was left to do was to add a drop of each to a small glass (I used a port glass) and take notes by tallying the drops used until I reached the right proportions - and voila! The perfect Christmas Spirit recipe!

Here's what you'll need to make a 5ml bottle:

• One empty 5ml essential oil bottle
• 15 drops black spruce essentil oil
• 25 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 60 drops sweet orange essential oil

This recipe makes 100 drops worth (5ml) of Christmas Spirit essential oil. You can easily customize the recipe based on how you would like to use it.

For example, for a room spray add 8 drops of Christmas Spirit to 1oz of water. Double the drops for a bathroom spray (it works really well in place of poopouri!).

You can also diffuse 5-8 drops in a diffuser.

Loving Preparation - Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend

1. Simply add each essential oil to an empty 5ml essential oil bottle.

2. Cap closed and roll between your palms to mix

3. Allow the blend to "synergize" for a few days to allow the oils to blend and meld with one another. You will notice that the aroma will age, making the perfect dupe for the original Christmas Spirit blend!

To Use

This blend is perfect for making room sprays, bathroom sprays, and carpet freshener and is a must-have diffuser blend on Christmas morning. I have often added it to homemade cleaning solutions just like thieves oil in order to clean the house and infuse it with a lovely aroma.

Turned out perfectly! Just what I needed to brighten up this October. I was keen on buying another bottle of Christmas Spirit, but having the ingredients for this made it the better option. I'm grateful.
