Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common hormonal condition affecting almost 5-20% of women of childbearing age and 70% of women with infertility. It can affect one or both ovaries, appearing as a collection of cysts (often resembling a string of pearls) on the ovary – making it larger in appearance and causing it to release higher levels of androgens than normal.
As a result, the antral follicles, which are responsible for releasing the ovum, remain immature and do not develop properly. This prevents the ovum from being released and fertilized making it a common symptom for women with polycystic ovaries to have a very irregular ovulation cycle.
One of the main symptoms of PCOS is an exceedingly irregular menstrual cycle. This in itself makes it difficult for a woman with PCOS to gauge when or if she’s ovulating and is one of the leading causes of infertility.
Some women have no symptoms at all, where others may experience acne, emotional imbalance, excessive body hair – including places women normally don’t grow hair, irregular menstrual cycles, mid-cycle bleeding, absent periods, and even miscarriage.
Other symptoms of PCOS include:
• Changes in weight – especially weight gain and trouble losing weight
• Fatigue
• High testosterone levels
• Insulin resistance
• Low sex drive
• Mood swings
• Thinning hair and baldness
Those who suspect they may have PCOS should get a series of hormonal testing done including LH/FSH levels, progesterone, testosterone, and cholesterol and glucose levels.
Insulin resistance is believed to play a major role in the development of PCOS. The key is to balance the excessive androgens in the body in order to allow it to process insulin more efficiently.
Essential oils can certainly help with balancing hormones while changes in your diet take care of the insulin resistance. PCOS is a condition where diet can make ALL the difference, so it’s super important to consider every food and drink before consuming it. You can read a thorough guide on how to eat for PCOS here.

Cypress essential oil, in particular, seems to have chemical compounds most similar to a woman’s ovarian hormones.
Tarragon, sage, clary sage, German chamomile, and fennel are especially good for restoring a regular menstrual cycle as they stimulate the same receptor sites that reproductive hormones do.
Essential Oil Recipes for PCOS
No matter which blend you use, applying it to the appropriate locations is key for best results. Dilute each recipe below in 2TB of carrier oil and then apply a few drops over the abdominal area (especially over the ovaries), the mid and lower back, and on the vita flex points indicated below for female fertility.
Repeat this 2-5 times daily to help shrink ovarian cysts, rebalance hormones, and help prevent future cysts from forming. Following a careful diet is also essential for healing PCOS.

Hi Tash,
Love this article 🙂 Which blend would you recommend for long cycles and fertility please? I have PCOS and insuline resistance.
Thank you 🙂
Stella says
Hi Tash, thank you so much for everything that you do — I am so grateful to have discovered this blog. I just had a quick question about using rosemary essential oil for scalp hair loss — can it stimulate unwanted facial hair growth by any chance? For instance, if I slept with it in my hair? I should say that I was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago and had terrible side effects of facial hair growth with Minoxidil. So I don’t want to be repeating that mistake since a preliminary internet search seems to suggest that it is also vasodillatory like Minoxidil. I’d be so grateful for any advice — thanks once again. Lots of love from the UK! xxx
Tash says
Hi Stella!
It shouldn’t cause any unwanted hair growth in areas where hair shouldn’t be growing 🙂
Karen says
Hi, I’m really wanting to alleviate PVOS symptoms and I’m happy to have found your page. Could I do an essential oil blend of frankincense, lavender, clary sage, geranium and ylang ylang? Or should I just follow your blends above? I don’t have fennel or some of the others you mentioned, yet anyways.
Moira says
Hiya!
I was wondering if these oils should be taken less if the user is underage? They are 17, so almost an adult, but should they take less because they are not totally done developing and such? He suffers from PCOS, has Hypothyroid, and also has high cholesterol. There are many blends for these things individually, but it is my assumption that he cannot take all three blends (which have overlapping oils) at the same time. Can he, or would it negatively affect him?
Tash says
Hi, Moira!
I am not familiar with the male equivalent of PCOS 🙁 Therefore, I’m not certain about the effects of these essential oils on your son. DO you know which hormones are out of balance specifically?
Dani says
Hi Tash,
I was diagnosed with PCOS as I have high testosterone and irregular periods after coming off birth control for 8 years. I also have hirsutism but do NOT have cystic ovaries. Looking for an oil to lower the testosterone and balance my cycle/hormones. What oils would you suggest?
Aranya says
Hi ,
I had irregular periods and mild pcos . I have been facing a lot of facial hair growth which started slowly few years ago and now it is quite difficult without a threading over chin and neck frequently.. And it is lowering my confidence . I just gave birth to my baby 6 month old and got my periods after 5 months. Let me know what can I try. kindly help.
Tash says
Hi, Atanya!
The best essential oils for irregular periods are rose otto and tarragon. I think the rose otto is easier to get. You can actually find it pre-diluted on Amazon. I like the brand Plant Therapy 🙂 If you look at the vita flex charts in this blog post, you can see where to apply the oil (just a drop or two) to the inside and outside of the right foot. I would do this 1-2x daily. Alternatively, you can also try seed cycling which you can read more about here.
Aranya says
Hi Tash,
Thanks for your reply.. I am currently breast feeding can I use this oil? And is this also for getting rid of facial hair growth and hair thinning in head?? Should I do any harmone test before asking you proper remedy if then what particular test? Will the EO alone will help or I should combine both seed cycling along with the EO practise?
Sorry for lot of questions ..But I just got a positive feeling after reading your post so I couldnt stop being eager to know it. Thanks for your response 🙂
Aranya says
Also which blend of eo can I use please suggest. And how much drops. A kind suggestion Please post a video on how to use the EO whuch will b very useful.

Hi. I’m 37 and not trying to conceive. However, I’ve gained thirty pounds plus in the past year, have developed terrible acne, dark hair on my lip/chin, thinning hair on my head and anxiety among other issues. I conceived my daughter who is two with the help of metformin. I drink mostly water but have a cup of coffee each morning. I walk 30 min a day. I am insulin resistant, and my a1c keeps creeping up. my tsh is normal. my testosterone is normal. my t4 is normal but t3 is borderline low. I’ve recently started
a myo inositol supplement which seems to help. I have the endoflex either I’ve recently purchased. id love to stop taking the metformin. suggestions??

Any help for cystic acne on the back and shoulders with testosterone saliva lab results at 91 when it’s supposed to be the highest at 55. Also high cortisol from ongoing unresolved traumas. Also hypothyroidism but apparently not hashimotos. Great website and so glad the natural methods are being talked about now. I’m a very healthy eater, I don’t eat fast food for like ten years. I eat nothing with hormones, no dairy. I do eat grass fed butter and coconut oil. I work out a lot, and intensely. I’m still having lots of facial and even neck hair or under the face between the neck and face. I was on spiroldactone when I was in high sxhool, but only stayed on for a few months, but all my problems were still there. I tried supplements but tapered from that now. K I’m sure you’ve heard this all before. Thanks for reading.
ayesha says
For how long should I use any of above combination?
Tash says
Depending on how you feel while using the oils (and hopefully while also keeping close track of your hormones!), you should only need to use the blends for a few months. However, this protocol should be used in conjunction with other lifestyle changes that are appropriate for your body in order to get the PCOS to stay “in remission”. Going back to an unhealthy lifestyle can result in the PCOS flaring up again.
Best of luck! 🙂
Kay says
Hello! I have PCOS and am wondering of any oil blend that would help clear up the CONSTANT acne and hirsutism.
Thanks for any help!!
Tash says
Hi Kay!
Try diluting just 1 drop of thyme essential oil in 1 TB of carrier oil that agrees with your skin. You can dab this on problem areas. Thyme essential oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide for treating acne without the side effects!
Claudia says
Hi Tash,
I have PCOS & started to show symptoms aftee giving birth to my son. I gained weight & my period was irregular. Fast forward 9 years later I have lost 30 lbs this year, I am a vegan. I exercise 5 days a week. My last period was a year a half ago. My lab results show extremely high levels of prolactin & a slightly abnormal insulin. My symptoms are: no period & hair loss.
What essential oils can I take? I want to get pregnant but it’s impossible to.
Tash says
So sorry to hear this Claudia!
Have you had your other hormone levels checked? Do you also eat enough healthy fats?
Juanita says
Great loving the story and the oils but do you have the recipes how many drops etc ? Thank you ☺️
Jessica says
Hi! First of all, thank you for the wealth of info on this page.
I’m 38 years old, was diagnosed with PCOS at 15. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last 2 years with no luck at all. He’s not the problem – in fact he’s “way above average” – but it’s me. We’ve been seeing a fertility specialist for awhile now. Clomid did nothing for me. Was switched to Letrazole (femara), and it’s worked maybe a handful of times, but just barely enough. I have not had a period on my own in years. The only way I can get it now is if I “induce” it with progesterone pills each cycle. IF I DO ovulate that cycle, a normal period follows. But it’s the ovulation that is the issue. Because of my PCOS, these suckers do NOT want to grow to mature enough to ovulate without stimulation, and sometimes even that doesn’t work. Every time I go for my ultrasound, I have multiple follicles, but they are usually too small. Without fail, the one thing my doctor always ends up telling me is that my oestradiol is too LOW. This of course is also another reason my follicles aren’t growing. Apparently my ovaries do not want to produce enough oestrogen on their own, and I’m assuming this is because the high levels of testosterone from my PCOS.
Is there any oil or oil blend that can help this? We are absolutely desperate for a baby. Lifestyle wise, I honestly could not be healthier – husband as well. Both VEGAN, do not drink, do not smoke, supplement with our B12, I walk every single day, drink NOTHING BUT water… I’ve been this way for years. I have no idea what else to do.
Tash says
Hi Jessica!
I’m am so sorry to hear about your frustrations! Fertility can be so hard to navigate 🙁 There are a few ways to help boost your oestrogen levels naturally. Have you ever tried seed cycling? As crazy as it sounds, certain seeds can actually encourage your body to produce the needed hormones at the right times. You can read my article on the topic here. Another thing you can do is eat more soy products since these foods mimic estrogen in the body. I’m curious, have you had a full fertility hormone panel done?
As for essential oils, clary sage, ylang ylang, and fennel are some of the most potent oils that promote fertility. These oils work well diluted in 1 tsp of carrier oil (try 2-3 drops of one essential oil at a time) and apply it over the entire abdomen 1-2 times daily the week before and during your period (or when those times are supposed to happen).
You can then use either an essential oil called Progessence Plus by YL or purchase a natural Wild Yam cream. You would then apply this on the soft areas of the body like inner thighs, inner wrists, inner elbows, the sides of the throat (alternate where you apply it) 1-2 times daily for 14 days after your period ends (or when it is supposed to).
From what I have heard, these methods can really help but I encourage you to keep an eye on your hormone levels closely so that you can actually monitor what is working and what isn’t. Hormones are delicate, so just take a care when you start to take matters into your own hands.
I wish you the best of luck!
Jessica says
Thank you immensely for your reply! I will definitely look into your seed cycling as well. Happy New Year! ?
Erin says
Im so sorry to hear this. We tried for a baby for 7 years…ended up having 4 losses. Went to multiple specialists and was feeling totally done until I reached out to a dr in TX who thinks outside the box in regards to hormones. He found quickly that I have Atypical PCOS. I was put on metformin ER after 3 months on it I was pregnant and had a healthy baby boy (4 yrs old now) and then when he was about 18 months decided to try again with metformin ER and got pregnant immediately with another boy (19 months now)
Contact Dr James Wheeler in Houston TX it will be worth your while. I did 2 phone convos as I’m in CA and that’s it. He recommended bloodwork and just reviewed the results. I have 2 beautiful healthy boys after years of heartache. I bet he can help you too!

I was diagnosed with PCOS over 10 years ago and are just about to start our first round of IVF and a friend recommended to look into essential oils to see if any would help me. I was wondering which one of these blends would help me the most or if there was a better blend to try. I have am very new to essential oils and want to make sure I am making the best option.
Tash says
Hi Heather!
Can you tell me a bit more about your specific symptoms? Have you also had your hormones tested?
Kat says
I have been diagnosed with PCOS but only my DHEAs levels are high (not testosterone) are there certain blends that would be better to use than others?
Also I have endometriosis and I had heard that oils like anise and fennel are not good for reproductive issues. Are they good for PCOS but just not endometriosis?
Tash says
Hi Kat!
Do you consume caffeine, use birth control, or have insulin resistance?
Auguste Shatika says
Hi Tash,
In my case, i was diagnosed with PCOS both my ovaries just last month. I sometimes for a long time use to feel pain in my wob of which i normally use to ignores. I got married last year and my husband is desperate for a baby, that why i decided to take up the situation with a specialist who proposed me for surgery which is going to happen end of this month. But my periods is irregulars, two weeks on and two weeks off. My question is, should i go for surgery or this oil although i dont know of this oil? I hope they can be found in the shops.
Tash says
Hi Auguste!
If you try the oils, 4 weeks before your surgery may still not be enough time for them to really show you what they can do. it may take a few months to see what changes they can make. It is totally up to you and there is no guarantee that the oils will work well enough to help you conceive. I wish you the best of luck! <3
Katie says
Hello, I’ve been suffering from depression and lack of motivation with my PCOS. I have an IUD in for birth control and on spironolactone. I dont have the urge to cook or do anything healthy. What should I do?
Tash says
Hi Katie!
Did any of your symptoms arise when you started taking the spironolactone?
Frances says
Hey Tash,
I am suffering from the exact same symptoms Katie mentioned above. I am also in spironolactone and on an IUD. My symptoms appeared before I started taking spironolactone. Is there any blends that I may benefit from?
Tash says
Hi Frances!
Did you start experiencing these symptoms after getting an IUD? Have you had your hormones tested?
Michelle says
Hi Tash!
I’m super new to essential oils, and I have a (possibly silly) question. I’m looking online for price points, and the only reasonably priced Rose Otto oil is diluted with Jojoba Oil. Would that still work for blends #1 & 3? Or should I spring for the pure Rose Otto?
Thanks!
Tash says
Hi Michelle!
Yes! The diluted version will work just fine 🙂
Monique says
Hi Tash! Any suggestions on a blend to incorporate ylang ylang or another to boost sex drive? Mines is nonexistent.
Tash says
Hi Monique!
Check out this article! As for a blend, you could diffuse 1 drop of ylang ylang and 3-4 drops geranium. It’s pretty floral, but those oils are really good for stimulating libido. Also, are you using any type of hormonal birth control?
Monique says
Thanks so much for this information. No I’m not taking anything currently
Mandi Goza says
Hello! My family is complete, but I’d love to know a blend that helps with PCOS symptoms of weight gain and extra facial hair growth, please! Thanks!
Tash says
Hi Mandi!
It’s all about getting those hormones back into balance! Have you had them tested? If you have excess estrogen, try eating one raw carrot per day. You can also try seed cycling which is a non-invasive way to help balnce hormones. You can read more about it here!
JessicaH says
Hello! Question regarding the blends. Would any of the above blends assist in stopping bleeding from an irregular period?
Tash says
Hi Jessica!
Unfortunately, I don’t think there are. Are you talking about spotting? Or your regular bleeding during your period? I know that preventing the body’s natural flow can cause retrograde menstruation. This is where blood does not correctly leave the body and can cause cysts. So be careful!
Rachel Leathers says
Any recommendations for a perimenopausal woman with suspected PCOS? Thank you!
Tash says
Hi Rachel!
Have you by chance heard of seed cycling? It can really help balance your hormones in a non-invasive manner. I would give it a try 🙂
Rachel Leathers says
I’ll give it a shot, thank you!
VL says
Hi there! I’m 26 and have acne since 2 years now. Ive tried everything and finally found I had PCOS. I decided to stop the pill I was on since 10 years. So I would like to know which oils are the best for acne (1) and also to have the periods back (2)! Looking forward to your reply 🙂
Tash says
Hi VL!
I encourage you to try seed cycling which I write about here. It has helped many women get their periods back in a very non-invasive way 🙂 As for the oils and acne, I really love using tea tree for killing acne-causing bacteria. What is your skin like?
Akylia says
Hi I have multi ovarian cysts it’s paining Nd I feel nauseous what oils can I buy ?
Tash says
Hi Akylia!
You can use essential oils like frankincense, ginger, spearmint, and cypress diluted in carrier oil (try 10-15 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil) applied to the abdomen over the ovaries. Have you had any hormone tests done?
Akylia says
Oh ok thanks and no I am just feeling nauseous and really sleepy all the time
Kim says
Hi! Can you help me figure out the best blend to use? I have high testosterone, low progesterone and insulin resistance. My period for the past year was normal-ish until a couple months ago. Now it is non existent. I am trying to get pregnant, eating healthy and starting to exercise more consistently. I just need an extra boost to get my period back!
Tash says
Hi Kim!
Have you looked into seed cycling? This is a really non-invasive way to help balance hormones and encourage the right ones to increase or decrease. You can learn how to do it here. As for essential oils, You can increase progesterone by using thyme essential oil (make sure it is well diluted as it is a hot oil. Try a single drop in 1 TB of carrier oil and apply to the inner ankles 1-2x daily). I also encourage you to check out my fertility posts here and here. Rose and sandalwood essential oil are known to balance testosterone levels.
Laura Ashba says
I have mixed up a blend! I was 7 days late and my test were negative! I have two babies and do not want any more. I was told i had pcos 6 years ago. I started the blend by rubbing it on my overies and my foot below my right ankle like the article said. I started my period Sunday! I forgot to put any on Tuesday and my period went away Tuesday. I put some on this morning and my period came back. My question is how many days are we suppose to use it. And Will I bleed every single day I apply the oil? What will these blends do exactly?.. I used number blend number 2!
Tash says
Hi Laura!
Have you by chance looked into seed cycling? It’s a great non-invasive way to help get your hormones back into balance 🙂 You can read more about how to do it here. You do this method for at least 3 months to see if it helps kick things back into balance and can continue doing it for as long as you like. Sometimes it takes more than 3-6 months for your body to start doing things on its own. Once you start implementing seed cycling, you can use the corresponding essential oils during the time when your period should be starting and continue to use them for 5 days (or for however many days is normal for your body before you were diagnosed with PCOS). I wouldn’t apply the oils longer than 5 days because what the oils are doing is encouraging the production of FSH which is what happens naturally when your period starts.
Lisa says
Hello,
Do you think that adding black see oil to any blend could make it more effective?
Also, My husband and I are trying to conceive. I just finished my round of letrozole and should be ovulating in a couple of days. Do you have a blend for promoting ovulation?
Tash says
Hi Lisa!
I’m not sure about the black seed oil increasing effectiveness, I think any carrier oil will work just fine. As for an ovulation blend, check out this post 🙂
Jennifer says
Hi,
I am 37 and diagnosed with PCOS last year. I have been on Metformin and Clomid to regulate my periods. I haven’t been ovulating and am looking for essential oil blends that will help me start ovulating. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Tash says
Hi Jennifer!
Check out this post 🙂
Deb says
Do you have any recipes that include clary sage and ylang ylang? Is it safe to continue with clary sage after ovulation if ttc?
Tash says
Hi Deb!
You can actually use the clary sage and ylang ylang together with geranium for a really great fertility blend (2 drops clary sage, and 1 drop each of ylang ylang and geranium in 2 tsp of carrier oil). As for the clary sage, if you’re ttc you can leave it out during the luteal phase.
Hannah says
Hello, I just started using essential oils and I was wondering if it worked just as good in a diffuser or if it would be better to place it directly on my skin?
Tash says
Hi Hannah!
For PCOS, it’s definitely better to try and use them topically.
Rachel says
Wow what a helpful article, I’m impressed, thank you! Any specific rec for PCOS symptoms predominant with hair growth, acne, irregular periods, and infertility? Thank you for your time!
Tash says
Hi Rachel! Have you tried seed cycling before? It has helped a lot of women with PCOS start to control their irregularities. I think it would be worth trying 🙂 You can check it out HERE.
Cindy says
Hi, I’m 36 I’ve had PCOS since I was 16. I have a very bad case of hirsutism out of all the symptoms this is the worst. For me. Usually, I would get my period every 3 or 4 months it’s been almost 8 or 9 I lost track what blend would you recommend .
Thank.you!
Cindy
Tash says
Hi Cindy!
Have you ever looked into seed cycling? It’s a great place to start when trying to get your period back! You may also want to start using clary sage essential oil in conjunction with trying to get your follicular phase to start when using seed cycling.
Cindy Dardia says
Thank you I have never heard of seed cycling I will definitely start soon! Thank you so much.
Patricia Spence says
Hi Tash.
I have some herbal essential oils and don’t know their uses and how to use them.
I was diagnosed of PCOS and hormonal imbalance. I have a lot of reoccurring acne and black spots. I’ve added weight especially on my stomach and arms. I’ve gotten cellulite on my thighs and uneven complexion. I’ve done a hormonal assay and awaiting the result.
I’ve done a hcg and a hydrotubation because of scaring on the right tube. But still have pains on the right side of my abdomen when it’s pressed. I’ve been placed on clomid and hcg . I’m on the 6th cycle and on clomid. I have a son who’s a teenager and I’m presently TTC.
I have lavender oil, geranium oil, sage oil, oregano oil, jojoba oil, onion oil, fennel oil, fenugreek oil, propolis oil, eucalyptus oil, sweet almond oil, pomegranate oil, grapeseed oil and a combination of rose, frankincense and bergamot oil.
Please what how do I combine them for effective outcome.
Tash says
Hi Patricia!
Can you tell me about your diet and lifestyle routine? I would also be interested to see which hormones are out of balance when you get your results. This will give me more insight!
Shumaila says
Hi I am using clary sage, germanium & lavender oil blend for irregular cycle and pcos and I’m also trying to conceive. How long will it take to see a difference and then to conceive?
Tash says
Hi Shumaila!
That really depends on your unique state of health. Have you confirmed that you are ovulating? If not, I recommend picking up some ovulation test strips on Amazon (they’re quite reasonably priced and accurate!) to see if you are ovulating. If you are, then that’s half the battle won right there!
Taylor M. says
Hello I was diagnosed this January with PCOS. I am trying to conceive but its difficult because my periods are never on time sometimes I go 2-3 Months without a period. What would be the best essential oils to try to regulate periods and for trying to conceive? thank you!
Tash says
Hi Taylor!
Have you confirmed that you are ovulating? You can actually get ovulation test strips online for a very decent price on Amazon. I started using them and discovered that my ovulation actually takes place way earlier than what is considered normal. I know that women who have PCOS can actually ovulate without having a period, so it’s good to know if it’s actually happening.
If it is, great! If not, then I suggest using clary sage and geranium essential oil to help encourage ovulation.
Have you considered seed cycling? You can read more about it HERE. This is a very non-invasive method to help regulate your menstrual cycle and even encourage proper periods.
Honeybel says
Can one use sage oil in place of Clary sage?
Tash says
Hi Honeybel!
Yes, you can get a similar result using sage 🙂
Karen says
Hi Tash! I hope you can help me. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the tender age of 13. Been on the pill on and off to shrink cysts whenever they appear.
My main symptom was irregular periods, but then I turned 24 and I started losing a lot hair! Turns out I had very big cysts in both ovaries! I had to be put on Diane 35 and Metformin for a while, because the BCP was no longer working as well shrinking the cysts as before.
I just quit BCP (dealing with candida overgrowth right now) 4 months ago. I started seed cycling last month, I got a period when I was supposed to, but this month not yet :/ I made the huge mistake of trying to get on the pill again, but stopped after 3 days.
Which blend would you recommend for my specific case?
Tash says
Hi Karen!
Sorry to hear about your struggles! You may want to look into frankincense, myrrh, ginger, rose otto, and tarragon. Granted, these oils together won’t smell particularly great, but I think they are the most suited for your needs. You can refer to the article for specifics. At any rate, I would make a simple roll-on blend by adding 1 drops of each oil or making your own blend by adding 6 drops total of any of the essential oils I mentioned. 🙂 Keep up with the seed cycling!
Patricia Cusack says
I was thinking of just making a “super” oil bottle. Using all the oils together. Has anyone tried this? Why make all the little mixes and have tons of bottles if you can just make one or two? Has this been done? What are your favorite mixes? Most effective? TIA
Tash says
Hi Patricia!
You can certainly do this by making a master blend that is pure essential oils and then adding a few drops of that to carrier oil 🙂
Julia says
How do I know which of the three blends to use? I’ve had issues with fibroids and extremely painful periods and infertility. I’ve been using clary sage and frank and that has helped the fibroids and the pain. But still have the infertility, facial hair, painful acne only on my chin.
Tash says
Hi Julia!
I recommend choosing which oils will suit you best. Tarragon, fennel, myrrh, frank, and ginger are great for painful periods and hormonal balance (you could try adding 1 drop of each to a roll-on bottle to see how that feels). For blemishes, I would use a simple spot treatment of tea tree oil (2 drops in a 10ml roll-on bottle with jojoba oil or other tolerated carrier oil) and apply that to trouble areas. As for the blends, you could try Blend #2 🙂
Sheila Del Bosque says
Which blend could you suggests for elevated testosterone levels due to my PCOS?
Tash says
Hi Sheila!
You can use any of these essential oils to lower high testosterone:
Clary Sage Essential Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil
Thyme Essential Oil
Sandalwood Essential Oil
Lavender Essential Oil
German Chamomile Essential Oil
Fennel Essential Oil
Emma F says
I’m just starting my journey with EO’s, so I know this is probably a crazy question, but when I combine these “cocktails,” where do I store them? I presume it’s a bit much for a diffuser or inhaler — do you need to actually buy glass bottles and bottle them yourself? Thanks in advance!
Tash says
Hi Emma!
I would recommend picking up a pack of 5ml essential oils bottles to make your “cocktails” in 🙂 Be sure to label them and list the oils used and how much of each because I promise you, you will NOT remember what they are. You can then store these in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight.
MJ says
would any type of thyme vulgaris work to increase progesterone?

Hi MJ!
You can give other chemotypes a go since the thujanol version is hard to find but I’m not certain they will work the same way. The chemical makeup of specific essential oil are what make them so effective 🙂

Is there an oil or oil blend to stop or slow hair growth.
Also how do you apply thread oil blends?
Tash says
Hi Lynn!
I am not aware of any oil that inhibits hair growth. I would love to know so I wouldn’t have to shave my legs so often!

Would it be a good idea to use one of your blends in a sugar scrub? I have pcos so I am trying to find ways to help me ovulate and regulate my menstrual cycles.
Tash says
Hi Ana!
You could make these into a sugar scrub if you wanted. Just make sure not to rinse off/wipe off the essential oils too much since you need them to soak into the skin to work 🙂

Hi Jennie!
According to Tisserand (one of the world’s leading aromatherpists), it is unlikely that aromatherapy will have an effect on oral contraceptives. Always good to do your own research as well though 🙂

Can I put Jasmine EO into hemp seed oil to make it smell better?
Tash says
Absolutely! You don’t need much at all either 🙂

Which blend is best for my 16-year-old daughter? (5’1″, 95 lbs). Has a bit of hairy arms and low back, forehead acne that won’t go away even with a healthier diet, and started menstruating twice a month. Acupuncture helped a lot but I wanted additional support for her. Thanks!

Hi Connie!
Hmmmm, I’m wondering what her hormone profile looks like. to be menstruating twice a month CAN be a sign of estrogen deficiency. I’m wondering if getting her serum levels tested would be a good idea to get a clearer picture of what’s going on.
As for the EOs, I would go with blend #1 or #3. You could even add a drop or two of tarragon essential oil if you have it on hand.
Best of luck!

Can I make any of these PCOS blends in a roller bottle? Or do I need to add more of each oil to make these blends work in a roller bottle?
Tash says
Hi Nikki!
You can definitely use these in a roll-on bottle. I suggest adding the full recipe (without the carrier oil) to its own essential oil dropper bottle if you want better control over how many roll-ons you want to make. You can then add just 6 drops of the essential oil mixture per 10ml roll-on bottle. Otherwise, make the full recipe including the carrier oil to make about 3 roll-on bottles (or even one large one if you find a roll-on bottle big enough). Keep in mind that these are higher dilutions, so reduce the essential oils as feels most comfortable. 🙂
